The Higher Education Commission announced a funding project, the Local Challenge Fund (LCF), to submit research proposals. The faculty of all private and public universities are eligible to submit their research proposals for this program. However, the commission will select the candidates according to the selection criteria. However, for the LCF, HEC will provide Rs 65 million funding for a maximum project duration of 02 years. However, the budget might increase up to 113 million. Thus, interested candidates can submit their research proposals for LCF by 01 October 2021.
Eligibility Criteria for HEC-LCF
For the Local Challenge Fund (LCF) program, the commission has divided the eligibility of Principal Investigators (PIs) into two categories/elements.
- LCF- Element I
- LCF-Element II
For both categories, the Principal Investigators must be University Faculty Members (Ph.D/FCPS/MCPS/FRCS) Based at HEIs. However, for Element-I, the university should not be included in the research-intensive institutes specified for GCF call 2020. While, for element-II, universities included in the Institute specified for GCF 2020 call are eligible.
LCF Grant
Under the HEC LCF program, the funding amount will be up to Rs 65 million with a maximum project duration of two years (the budget could increase to 113 million).
How to Apply for LCF 2021
- Candidates have to submit their research proposals for the Local Challenge Fund (LCF) program according to the template available on the HEC website. (research.hec.gov.pk).
- The last date to submit the proposal for the HEC LCF Program is 01 October 2021.
