KU Backdated Journals

According to recent news, the History Department of Karachi University revealed to publish various backdated research journals. There is no existence of cited references such as news articles, research papers etc in the publications. Thus, in this regard some facility members stated that the purpose of this illegal task is to get promotion through unfairs means.

Here are some statements regarding this issue. According to the sources, the university published the issues in  2013 and then in 2019 in the Journal of History and Social Science (JHSS). During these years, they  didn’t publish any issue so HEC abandoned this journal due to not publishing anything for a long time.

After this, suddenly various issues appear in the journal having the dates between 2013-2019. However, those sudden appearances were not only from local scholars but also from international scholars. Other than that, after the discontinuation of the journal, there are 15 issues having 65 papers published by 127 scholars. These 15 issues have dates between January-June 2013 to July-December 2020. Thus, most of these 15 issues consist of four research papers while some have 5 or 6 papers.
