The Ministry of Health Islamabad, in the latest press release, decided to conduct the Medical and Dental College admission test (MDCAT) of prisoners. Pakistan Medical Commission PMC issued this notifcation yesterday (15TH December 2022). Also, PMC followed the directions of Honourable Federal Minister of Health Mr.Abdul Qadir Patel and ordered all Vice Chancellor of Public Sector to hold MDCAT exams in jail next year.

PMC has initiated the process of holding MDCAT exams in the jail for the aspirants by instructing the universities to establish centers in jail. The jail staff and concerned authorities will facilitate the universities by making the appropriate arrangements. The candidate who appears in the MDCAT will now have the opportunity to study further till their punishment is completed. They have educational opportunities to lead a new life rather than being dragged into the same unfortunate conditions.

Providing inmates with education opportunities will also reinforce the notion that prisoners have intended character reform and not punishment assigned by providing proper time usage. This is for the first time in Pakistan to hold an MDCAT examiantion in jail to facilitate genius and intelligent students to become doctors and nurses.
