In a recent press conference, the Caretaker Provincial Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the holidays. According to the details, we notify all schools and colleges of Punjab that the govt has announced four-day holidays in Punjab due to smog. Due to the ongoing smog wave, the CM Punjab took this decision. They strive to mitigate the severe pollution plaguing the region. The recent data from IQ Air has shown alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) levels, with Lahore hitting a staggering 374, while Multan recorded a distressing AQI of 442. Pindi Bhattian and Rawalpindi also reported unhealthy AQI levels. The AQI range between 101 to 150 is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, 151 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is unhealthy, and 301 to 500 is classified as hazardous.
Due to this worse smog condition, the government decided to shut down all educational institutes till 12 November 2023. Thus, the holiday will begin from 9th November till 12th November 2023 (Thursday to Sunday)
CM Punjab Appeal
The Caretaker Provincial Chief Minister also appealed all Punjab citizens to stay indoors during these four days. Most children are experiencing breathing difficulties and eye infections, highlighting the urgency of these measures.

Not only this, the educational institutions and markets in Punjab will remain closed on Saturday. Schools that are still operational on Saturdays will be required to shut down, and traders are encouraged to consider closing their shops on Friday.
