Federal Government to Abolish the HEC
Recently, the federal government decided to bring HEC autonomy under the ministry of Education by abolishing it. However, the federal government also approved the ordinance related to the HEC. Thus, now the Ministry of Education will take all the decisions regarding the Higher Education Commission.
However, the President of Pakistan has approved the ordinance and named it as HEC Amendment ordinance 2021. According to the regulation, the HEC chairman will be appointed for two years. However, the appointment duration of the HEC members will be four years.
