COVID-19 has a severe impact on the education system worldwide. The majority of students are not attending their schools due to coronavirus. Just like other countries, the cases of coronavirus is rapidly increasing in Pakistan. Additionally, Government College Women University (GCWU) Faisalabad is continuously working on the development of its faculty program as education is disrupted in the entire world. So, the Vice-chancellor of GCWU Faisalabad, Prof Dr. Robina Farooq, tried to convert the regular classes into the E-Learning system. GCWU faculty is working hard to provide quality education to avoid academic disruption due to the shutter down of educational institutes.
Government College Women University (GCWU) Faisalabad got the approval of conducting online classes. Prof Dr. Robina Farooq deeply guides the GCWUF faculty to understand and develop the strategies to conduct online academic activities. However, they established the ‘Online Academic Council’ to ensure the quality of online education. After getting approval of the ‘Online Academic Council’ OAC from HEC, VC requested teachers to upload the lecture on University LMS. GCWUF is also going to conduct various online training sessions via E-Learning and data on LMS for teachers of GCWUF. Before starting online classes, they trained the whole faculty to make online classes more attractive. After giving training, they ordered teachers to make Powerpoint presentations with video/audio recording and other helping materials.
Instead of Google classroom, the students also stay connected through the WhatsApp group and Facebook accounts. The online classes of all degree programs started on June 1st, 2020. Besides this, the GCWUF library also tries to maintain an online library system.
