The KPK Elementary & Secondary Education Department notified about making Quran Studies Mandatory for the 9th to 12th classes. For the academic year 2022-23, the KPK decided to teach the Quran teachings as a compulsory subject in the 9th and 11th classes. Now, 10th and 12th Class students will also take the Quran Studies subject in the academic year 2023-24.
The notification also stated that the Education department had constituted a committee responsible for allocating the marks to the Quran Studies subject and developing question papers for the subject. However, the committee will also make arrangements for the Minorities. So, below are some recommendations that the committee provided.
- 150 (75 + 75) marks will be allocated to the Quran Studies subject for SSC and HSSC, Respectively, and all related arrangements will be made on time.
- For non-muslim students, 150 (75 + 75) marks will be for the ethics subjects for the SSC and HSSC.
Other than this, the committee also provided recommendations regarding the question paper format and other relevant things.
Accordion to the KPK Education Department notice, the government has approved the suggestions and directed the concerned authorities to teach Quran Studies subjects from the 2022-23 session to the 9th and 11th classes and, subsequently, 10th and 12th classes from 2023-24.
