On 22nd May, 2021, Federal Directorate of Education FDE issued a notification regarding reopening of schools. Just like all other provinces, FDE also notified that all the educational institutions in Islamabad will remain closed until 6 June. Earlier, they were supposed to reopen school on 24 May but now due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, the FDE decided to extend the COVID-19 holidays till June 06. In Islamabad, the coronavirus positivity rate is 6% which is relatively high as per issued notification. The government only ordered it to open in those districts where COVID-19 positivity rate is 5%. Therefore, Islamabad doesn’t occur in that category. Hence, educational institutes in Islamabad will now reopen from June 06. In this regard, NCOC stated;
“All educational institutions working under the ambit of the Federal Directorate of Education FDE shall now remain closed until 06-06-2021 under the already issued guidelines”.
In the decision of the 19th May meeting, NCOC allowed educational institutes to reopen on 24 May in the areas where the COVID-19 positivity rate less than five percent.
