Recently, the Government College University Lahore announced the ranking system for the academic departments. Through this system, the university will evaluate the performance of departments according to international standards. However, after the evaluation, the staff and faculty of the top three departments will receive honors.
Evaluation Indicators
The university will evaluate the department based on the following indicators/factors.
- The efficiency of the department’s student advising system
- Assessment Designing
- Course Handbooks updates
- Seminars, conference and training workshops
- Teaching scores in students evaluation
However, the VC of GCU said that varsity would give preference to the introduction of new courses and academic programs. However, there will also be seminars for the Research Supervisor Committee and Board of Studies.
For this ranking system, VC said that he is confident that this initiative will bring a good result regarding the studies. In addition, he said that it would generate healthy competition among the department to improve their learning processes.
However, the GCU Lahore will introduce this ranking system from the upcoming academic year, Fall 2021. Before this, the university also announced to amend the traditional grading system to the rubric-based absolute marking system.
