The Pakistan government will change the education system by privatizing the government schools across Pakistan. They are going to transform the government sector institutions into private institutions. According to the latest sources, the Punjab government is considering giving two thousand or more schools to private institutions under new rates. Not only this, the department will also pay private individuals or institutions on a per-child basis. Giving Rs 650 per child to private institutions to run the schools has been proposed. The primary purpose of giving schools to private institutions or personalities is to improve the quality of education.
The privatization of government schools in Pakistan has become a severe issue. Due to this news, government teachers across the country, belonging to various cities, protested against this decision. Many teachers fear losing their jobs and benefits, which can have a devastating impact on their livelihoods. Most teachers and education activists believe the government should focus on reforming the public education system rather than privatizing it. Investment in teacher training, curriculum development, and infrastructure can go a long way in improving the quality of education in government schools. Not every student can afford Rs 2000, and most students drop out before the 10th standard because they can’t even afford free education.

Not only this, the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) claims that the government is planning to privatize 10,000 schools, not 1,000, and that it is targeting the schools with the best infrastructure, doling them out to the private sector. The official notification regarding this news has yet to be received. We will share the official decision after receiving an update from SED Punjab.
