HEC disproves the FAPUASA claims
On Thursday, HEC issued a statement that clarified its perspectives regarding online classes and other things with the FAPUASA representatives.
FAPUASA has warned the HEC that if HEC didn’t fulfill its demands, then Public sector university teachers will boycott the HEC and also online teaching. On which HEC said that it is a matter between the university and individual faculty members.
Higher Education Commission said that an enormous amount of teachers took this responsibility of online teaching as their national duty, and for this, they worked hard. HEC told that about 23, 556 faculty members had trained themselves. Many of them asked for help to gain information from the Technology Support Committee/ Content Identification Committee in HEC.
HEC further said that it is very inappropriate for the FAPUASA representatives who are spreading various news, which is fake or for personal attacks. HEC claimed that issues had been discussed with the FAPUASA in the past repeatedly and will be discussed again.
In the statement, HEC mentioned that HEC would take any decision after considering all the perspectives and according to the HEC mandate. The Commission also said that to protect students and faculty from the ongoing COVID-19 situation, HEC has already published various guidelines.
On the issue of online classes, HEC clearly said that if any student has any problem with the online classes, then he/she is free to freeze his/her semester, and the same goes for the faculty member. Any faculty member who feels unequipped for online teaching is allowed to go on leave or assigned other university duties.
HEC also advised the FAPUASA to wait for the official announcement and stop spreading fake news regarding the HEC’s decision for the faculty member on the Tenure Track System (TTS).
