Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Pakistan, the government has recently announced that all schools, colleges, and universities shall remain closed till May 31, 2020. In this regard, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has ordered all educational institutes to start online classes. According to an official notification, the Higher Education Commission has asked all universities which have delivered lectures through learning management systems (LMS) to initiate online classes in a better way. This way, education will not be compromised.
Further added, HEC has clarified that those universities who are facing technical and spatial limitations can remain closed for academic activities till May 31, 2020. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the universities shall make complete arrangements and conduct online lectures. The professors must prepare a lecture and shall be able to deliver a lecture in a significant way through LMS.
HEC Chairman Dr. Tariq Banuri said:
We don’t know how long the restrictions will stay in place. The experience of other countries is quite varied. If the limits get lifted on June 1, the teaching will take place face to a profile. In the meantime, it will only be online.
