Recently, HEC permitted the Pharm.D and DPT degree holders to use Dr. with their names. So now, they will use Prefix Dr.; however, HEC provides this permission to the graduates on the recommendation of the Respective National Curriculum Review Committees (NCRCs).
However, according to Official notification, DPT and Pharm-D candidates can use Dr. with the terminology of these degrees as a suffix. By doing this, they will be recognized with their professional degrees.
The HEC took this step after the announcement of UHS in the last month. During a meeting in August, UHS stated that Pharm.D and DPT degree holders couldn’t use Dr. with their names. UHS said the Dr. Prefix is only for the MBBS and BDS candidates. Now, HEC has clarified all the mater.
