HEC Undergraduate Policy
According to the news, in the latest Undergraduate policy, HEC issued some credits or non-credits hours for various things such as practical learning, General education, internship, etc. However, this step aims to improve university education quality by creating some skills in the university.
Thus to develop writing skills, university students will take some quantitative reasoning and expository writing courses. However, students will choose an option from entrepreneurship, youth club, and sports for practical learning. According to HEC policy, the commission will also make religious studies as a part of Pakistan studies compulsory for the students soon.
Simultaneously, the policy also stated that the internship is compulsory for the four and five-year degree programs. However, these internships will be non-credited, so their scores will not be included in the grading system.
Objections
However, there is an association, the Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan, that didn’t show agreement with the HEC policy and raised some objections. However, the association not only objected but also gave some recommendations to the HEC regarding the policy.
Similarly, the VC of QAU also shows disagreement with the HEC policy. He stated the ungraded internship is not the right thing because students will not show interest in it. Other than that, he also gave some statements that he is not happy with the policy. Thus, he stated that we are not willing to adopt the HEC latest policy.
