HED “College of the Year” Contest
According to recent news, the Higher Education Department Decided to launch a contest, College of the Year, under a new policy. Thus, the department has made a new policy framework to recruit competitive candidates for the Principal post. However, this initiative is for all the public colleges of Punjab.
Under the policy, the department will make a special committee that will select the candidates after scrutinizing their potentials. Thus, the candidates will get the marks based on the following things: seniority, expertise, relevant administration experience, and aptitude for the jobs.
The interested candidates will appear in an interview where their potential and interest in the job will be checked. However, the Minister of Higher Education will lead the committee for the interview of candidates.
Thus, the main purpose of all these initiatives and steps is to promote a competitive environment in the colleges. By doing this, the quality of education and the education system will also improve, which is necessary for a country.
However, the government will also analyze the colleges’ yearly progress at the end of every session. After that, the department will judge the institutes in the prescribed criteria and announce the best college as the college of the years.
