On 8th June 2021, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a notification regarding hiring of low cadre employees. According to the details, the KPK government decided not to hire lower cadre employees for government departments on a permanent basis. However, the possibility of opening low cadre employee positions is only possible after the retirements of the government employees currently working on the positions. Approximately, 7,500 KPK government employees work under these lower category posts.
Moreover, the provincial government reverted the retirement age of its employees from 63 years to 60 years after deliberations with the stakeholders and considering the issue of increasing pension liabilities.
