KU Changed Its Admission Policy for Session 2021
According to the recent news, the University of Karachi has changed its admission policy for 2021 admissions. The reason is significantly less amount of students passed the bachelors and masters entry test 2021. The percentage of passed students in less than 25 that is very disappointing.
So, now the Karachi University will accept the applications on open merit. Additionally, the university also reduced the passing marks of various departments.
According to the news, in the four departments of masters, the strength of failed students is around 80%. So, the university decided to admit students on open merit in these four departments.
- Commerce
- Criminology
- Mass communication
- Pakistan Studies
Other than that, the university also reduced the passing marks from 50 to 25 for these two departments.
- Department of public administration
- Business school

Bachelors Degrees
KU also reduced the passing marks of seven departments of bachelors from 50 to 40-45. Those departments are:
- Applied chemistry and chemical technology
- Applied physics
- Education
- Environmental studies
- Petroleum technology
- Special education
- Teachers’ education
Other than that, KU also reduced the closing merit of intermediate in last year for the admissions in bachelors programs. The details are the following:
- Computer Science Department From 75% to 72%
- Software Engineering From 76% to 73%
- Food & Science From 72% to 54%
- IR Departement From 75% to 62%
- Mass Communication From 75% to 65%
- Business School From 77% to 73%
