The condition of smog is becoming worse day by day in Lahore. After reviewing the smog condition, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, CM of Punjab, has declared an Environmental emergency and ordered to implement to reduce smog in other cities, including Lahore. The huge amount of smog badly affects the environment. Also, the Burning of crop residue has been banned across Punjab. The government took strong action to control the factors that cause smog. In an official notification, the Punjab government stated on 7th December 2022 that offices will remain off on Friday and Saturday until 15th January 2023.

Also, Relief Commissioner strictly ordered that all private offices operated by companies, private sector entities, and other individuals within the territorial limits of Lahore Metropolitan Corporation shall remain closed every Friday, and Saturday, with effect from 07.12.2022 until 15.1.2023. However, their staff may work from home. The government will take strict action against smoke-emitting vehicles. Anti-smog squads should regularly check vehicles that emit smoke in the city. Anti-smog squad should also ensure the checking of vehicles at Lahore city entrances.
