One Nation One Curriculum
Several months ago the Minister of Federal Education of Pakistan stated that there would be one National curriculum for all the Institutes for Pakistan whether it be private school or government everyone would have the same syllabus. He also added that this would be implemented on the students of Grade 1 to Grade 5 from March 2020 which is also the start of the next academic year. Although months have passed since he talked about this, the next academic year is about to start and now everyone has kept their eyes on the Education Minister and Government to see whether it should be implemented or not.
It is possible that this decision might not be appreciated by private schools and some segments of society but in reality, it will reduce the difference between poor and rich children. When everyone is studying the same then it is much possible that the son of the poor will get the same job opportunities as the son of the rich person. Although everyone thought that this decision would not be liked by private schools, The federal Minister of Education of Pakistan Shafqat Mahmood stated in an interview that he has a number of reputed private schools at his side.
Shafqat Mahmood spent a lot of time in the press conference in which he cleared his views about the issue and the possible steps the government is going to take. He stated that Pakistan is still facing the issue of the old education system which is now almost changed in many countries of the world. He further added that the education systems need to be revamped and the current system is not worthy for the students and the future of Pakistan.
He further stated that the Parallel education system has destroyed the Creativity and talent among many Pakistani Children and has ruined the future of those children. Shafqat Mahmood also added to the speech by saying that if we combine the students of the same class of two different schools they would be hardly able to communicate with each other due to the curriculum gap.
At last, he said that Pakistani government is now going to implement the National Curriculum for the classes from 1 to 12 which will be must for every school whether it be private or government and the major step which is taken is that from classes 1 to 5 the decision would be implemented from the year 2020 and start of this academic year.
