On Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan issued a notification regarding the closing of all banks. According to the notification, SBP announced that all banks will remain close on 3rd January 2022 (Monday) due to public dealing. All bank employees, DFIs and MFBs will attend the office as usual. However, the State Bank of Pakistan announced earlier and directed all field offices of SBP-BSC to observe extended banking on Dec 30 and 31. The central bank in a recent meeting said that January 3, 2022, will observe as a “Bank Holiday”, Therefore, all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs) and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) will remain closed for public dealing.
Not only this, the State Bank itself remain closed. The authorized branches will observe extended banking hours till 8 pm and 10 pm on December 30 and 31, respectively to facilitate the collection of government receipts and taxes. SBP also issue a notification in this regard.
