MDCAT entry test 2020
MDCAT is the abbreviation of the Medical And Dental College Admission Test. Those students who want to get admission in MBBS and BDS appear in the MDCAT test. So, in this point of view, MDCAT has great importance for getting admission in the medical fields.
MDCAT is MCQs type paper, and all MCQs are from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and English. UHS (University of Health and Sciences) conducts MDCAT each year, and it is also known as the ticket to Medical institutes. It is also compulsory to remember that the validity of MDCAT is only for one year. It means if you miss a chance of getting admission to medical colleges after passing the test, you again have to pass the test next year in case you get admitted.
MDCAT 2020
As it has mentioned that MDCAT is conducted by UHS so, regarding MDCAT 2020, VC of UHS Dr. Akram Javed said that MDCAT would not be canceled. He also said that it is impossible to cancel the test as it will create great chaos in the system. However, the method of conducting an exam may change. There is a possibility that MDCAT will conduct online, and the final decision will announce soon.
UHS MDCAT Expected Date:
According to the details, the University of Health Science UHS has started the admission process of Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test MDCAT in Government and Private medical colleges of Punjab. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health Science has announced the tentative date of the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test. The date is not finalized yet. But it is expected that exams shall begin from 3rd or last week of October 2020. It might take 6-8 weeks for entry test arrangements, says Prof Javed Akram. However, the arrangement of the entry test is made by the efforts of the UHS team.

It is expected that Pakistan Medical and Dental Council is going to conduct a meeting to finalize the date of entry test taken in all provinces. The registration process shall begin from the mid of September and end in October. Due to COVID-19, the entry test got delayed. Now the condition has become normal, so the administration decided to announce the exact date as soon as possible.
Some Changes in MDCAT
In the press conference, it has also clarified that from this year, those students who have 60% marks in F.Sc can apply for the MDCAT while prior 70% marks were compulsory in F.Sc. It has also said that PMC has abolished the concept of 50% passing marks in the entry test. Now students can get admission according to their scores in the MDCAT.
Marks division
MDCAT has a total of 200 MCQs, and the division of these MCQs are
- Chemistry 60 MCQs
- Biology 80 MCQs
- Physics 40 MCQs
- English 20 MCQs
Each MCQs carry one mark with no negative marking.

Time duration
Time duration to attempt the MDCAT is about 2hrs 30 mins (150 minutes). So, each MCQs must attempt in about 1 min 3 seconds to solve all questions in time.
Points to be remembered during MDCAT test preparation
Here are some piece of advice for the students which they should remember during preparation
- First of all, students must give preferences to their textbooks of Fsc.
- Make a proper and effective timetable and try to follow it strictly. As it will help a lot in studies
- Try to clear their concepts. Once your concepts clear, it’s effortless to attempt the questions in MDCAT.
- Believe in yourself, and try to prepare yourself without taking any stress.
- Also, have a look at MDCAT past papers as it will help to understand the format of MCQs and papers. (it has also said that more than 60% MCQs repeat from the past papers)
