0n 16 November 2020, education ministers of all provinces attended the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC). The federal minister of Education, Shafqat Mahmood, chaired the conference, and all ministers participated in it online.
As the situation of COVID-19 is getting worse day by day, the ministers decided to arrange a meeting to make any decision. But unfortunately, the ministers didn’t make any decision about the vacations in the educational institutes.
Now, next Monday, on 23 November 2020, the education minister will again attend the IPEMC. During this time, they will review the corona situation, and then they will make a decision.
A day before, Punjab Education Minister, Murad Raas, gave his perspective on this situation. He said that, in my opinion, rather than shut down all schools, a smart lockdown would be a better decision.
However, NCOC and some other related official told the situation of COVID-19 to the ministers. They suggested extending the vacations from November to January.
Now, the education ministers will take the final decision at the next conference on 23 November 2020.
