During a press conference on Monday, the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication announced to launch of the 2nd Digiskills Programs for Freelancers. For this purpose, Ignite National Technology Fund (INTF) and Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) signed an agreement.
During the signing ceremony, the Ministry of IT and the telecom Minister stated that Pakistan could increase the number of Pakistani freelancers and bring foreign exchange through this initiative. So, this can be done by enhancing the internet connectivity, broadcast penetration, young and educated youth.
However, the Minister said that at this time, Pakistan is the 4th biggest growing country for freelancers and their earnings around the world. He stated that during 2021-22, the state bank figure for freelancing export was $369 Million. Thus, he hopes to reach this figure to half a billion by June 2022.
Benefits of Digital Skills
During the signing ceremony, the IT Ministry of Pakistan stated that through the DIgiskills, youth, especially women, will get the earning. Women who can’t go out for jobs will be able to start their small businesses from their houses. The Minister said that it’s very important for the youth to learn digital skills.
Training Centers across Pakistan for DigiSkills
Under the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, the National Freelance Training Program (NFTP) established 20 training centers. NFTP established the training center in various cities across Pakistan. These training centers will train the youth and provide them internet-based Free-Lancing platform.
