On 12th April 2021, Government College University decided to launch an amazing initiative by introducing an advisory system for students. The main aim of launching this advisory system for students is to ensure the academic advice was available all the time to every student of the institute. However, to run this system, the GCU Lahore will assign an academic advisor from faculty to each undergraduate and postgraduate student.
According to the details, GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi academic advisors provide and inform students with advice on academic careers, scholarships, choice of subjects, and strategies to overcome problems related to learning. They only introduce this system to get a student-centric approach in order to improve their learning processes.
The academic advisor is responsible to conduct an assessment of students’ needs. They also respond to facilitate them in organizing workshops and conducting non-credit courses, in case students require extra attention. Other than that, the advisor is active all time and in regular contact with those people who were advised. We also feel delighted if any faculty members give their advising services in the system regarding annual review reports, promotions and appointments. Moreover, the GCU Vice Vice-Chancellor will regularly take feedback from academic heads and students on the advisory system.
