HEC Chairman Announced that Universities Would not Open on 07 July 2020


In a talk with a news channel, HEC Chairman Dr. Tariq Banuri announced that universities would not open from 07 July. He confirmed that it is a piece of fake news.

Dr. Baruni also said that universities would reopen according to the before-mentioned schedule from 15 July. He said that the opening of universities is dependent on government decisions with the opinion of medical experts. According to the final decision of the government, the HEC will announce the final date of reopening the varsities. But HEC did not receive any decision yet. 

HEC chairman said that HEC directed the universities to prepare all the possible things to follow the SOPs. He said that university administration must prepare themselves even if HEC doesn’t know the exact date. So when the government announced its decision, then there will not be any delay on behalf of universities.


For the precautions, he said that universities would follow all those things mentioned by the WHO (World Health Organization). That is: 

  • People must be according to space so that social distancing must be maintained. Such as in cafeterias, labs, etc.
  • All students and faculty must wear masks,
  • Institutes must prepare sanitizers, dispensers, etc.
