We have good news to share. According to the details, it is to notify all that Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) in a recent meeting decided to add extra marks to the O and A Level students scoring A* grades. Candidates who achieved marks more than 90% will get extra marks. A* students will be able to get up to 96 marks,” said Secretary IBCC Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah. This decision is only for one year as a pilot project. Hence IBCC decided to award marks upto 96 marks. Students who passed their O/A level with A* grades awarded just 90 marks in equivalence certificates issued by IBCC.
Not only this, but they also decided that students who are going to appear in Matric and Inter exams will get 5% extra marks in compulsory subjects. This gap in the marking scheme rendered O/A level students unable to compete with students who pass exams of Pakistani boards in competitive tests for joining medical colleges and universities. They took this decision in the Equivalence Committee of the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen in Karachi, chaired by IBCC Chairman Dr Shaukat Hayat.
IBCC Secretary Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah. He also said that they only give extra marks this year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Pakistan boards took exams of only elective subjects, students appearing in international boards exams allowed to pass only elective subjects in the same manner.
