Notification Regarding Regularization
On 19 January 2021, the Punjab Government, Regulation Wing, issued a notification about the regularization of contract employees. The government issued this under the continuation of its letter dated on 29-10-2019 to recruit employees on a contract basis. According to that letter, all the contract employees recruited under rule 17-A were allowed to be made on a regular basis.
There was also a statement in that letter department will implement the direction prospectively. However, there was a challenge from Lahore High Court. The court said that these employees must deemed on a regular basis and With the effect of their initial appointments. The court also issued an order on 15-10-2020.
After that, the Regulation wing sent a summary to the chief minister on 21-10-2021. In the summary, wing suggested publishing a letter about the regularization of employees under rule 17-A of the Punjab Civil Servants.
Thus, the chief minister Punjab discussed this matter in the 39th provincial cabinet meeting. However, the cabinet approved the regularization of contract employees from the date of their initial recruitment.
