In a cabinet meeting, the Punjab government approved to terminate the BA and MA degrees from the colleges. According to the decision, BA/BSc, MA/MSc programs will end after 01 January 2021.
The Punjab government took this decision in the 37 cabinet meeting held in the chief minister’s office. Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister of Punjab, chaired this cabinet meeting.
Now, from next year, there will be no admissions in the said programs. The government also decided to change the names of colleges.
- Degree colleges will rename as Associate Degree Colleges.
- The name of the postgraduate colleges will remain the same.
- The postgraduate college will be for the M.Phil Programs.
However, before this, HEC instructed all country universities not to take admissions for these programs.
The cabinet also decided to upgrade the status of the following institutes:
- Emerson College Multan in a University
- Children’s Hospital and Institute of Child Health Lahore into the University of Child Health.
