The Supreme Court of Pakistan raises a question regarding the additional marks for Hafiz-e-Quran students. The board mentioned awarding 20% additional marks to the Hafiz-e-Quran students in a promotion policy. But after the declaration of the result, the board didn’t give additional marks. According to th details, one of the students named Mismat Shehla filed a petition. She didn’t secure admission to Bolan Medical University Quetta. The marks she obtained in the annual examination are not good, and the board also did not award her with 20% additional marks. Due to this, her merit becomes low and unable to pursue his higher qualification.
For this purpose, A bench headed by Justice Qazi Faiz Issa in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry heard the petition. The court remarked that it should give additional marks for admission to medical and other universities based on Hifz-e-Quran.
Justice Qazi Faiz Issa remarked that this is an important issue, and we will decide on it after hearing the parties. Hifz-e-Quran can be regarded as a quality while recruiting an Imam Masjid, but it has to do with the Medical profession. Petitioner Mesmat Shehla said that not given 20 additional marks of Hifz-e-Qur’an for merit. Justice Qazi Faiz Issa remarked that it stated whether a Hafiz-e-Quran student would become a better doctor.
