COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing not only in Punjab but also in Sindh as well. Hence, the provincial govt decided to shut down schools for the next 15 days due to rising COVID-19 cases. However, the Sindh task force now approved this request and close down schools for 15 days. According to the details, the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah here announced this news in a recent provincial meeting. Other than that, CM Shah directed the Sindh Minister for Education Saeed Ghani to discuss the matter with all the stakeholders, including the management of private schools, before taking a final decision.
Earlier, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho suggested to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) that schools close only in one case if only at least three (students or teachers) reported test positive for coronavirus. It is also pertinent to mention that the Health minister postponed the conduction of exams for two weeks. Moreover, they ordered a single exam with strict adherence to COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
During Friday’s meeting, the Sindh government said that from March 26 to April 1, 2021, a positivity ratio of 4.63% recorded in Karachi, whereas it found to be 5% in Hyderabad and 1.5 % in other areas of Sindh.
