Students Protested Against Faulty Online System
On Monday, university students from different cities staged a protest outside the HEC and raised their demands. The students demanded that universities should take the only tuition fee rather than the full fee. They said that it is not proper to ask students for the hostel fee, lab, library, and transport fee when universities are close.
Students demands:
They also said that a lot of students are facing internet problems, especially in hilly areas, and students are not able to take online classes or online exams.
Students raised their demand written on the placards outside the HEC office in Islamabad. From which a student said, “Don’t play with our future.”
Another student from QAU said that “there is always a second option, but you don’t want to solve the students’ problems.
They also said that the students of some areas couldn’t take online exams as there is no availability of light and internet. They said that HEC should take a step to provide internet connections to all students.
HEC response against Student Protest:
Hence, HEC held a meeting at the HEC headquarter with the students’ representatives and assured them HEC would consider and solve the genuine issues of students. Still, it is impossible to cancel the online exams. To resolve the students’ problems, HEC is in contact with universities VCs. The commission is also trying to solve internet problems through collaboration with PTA and other telecoms.
However, students claimed that their demands in the earlier protest are still unresolved despite the HEC’s assurance.
