MDCAT Exam 2022 Registration

During the 11th Medical and Dental Council Meeting, the commission approved opening the registration for the MDCA 2022 from 25 May 2022 onwards. However, the commission will conduct the MDCAT from 07 September to 30 September 2022 in 20 cities of Pakistan.

Provincial MDCAT Committees

During the meeting, the council also approved the policy for adding the provincial MDCAT Committees for each province and territory by the federal and provincial governments. However, the provincial MDCAT Committee will consist of 03 members, two from the Public Medical Institutes and one from the Private Medical Institute.

The Committee will review the curriculum and recommend the changes in the curriculum to the National Medical & Dental Academic Board or can also propose the questions to be included in the MDCAT Exam 2022. However, the commission announced to conduct the MDCAT 2022 through the PMC Owned IT System.

Lowering of MDCAT Passing Percentage for Dental College

Recently, the Dental colleges have submitted the recommendations to the National Academic Board regarding lowering the passing percentage for the Dental Programs. Thus, the board instructed the National Medical Authority to collect data regarding the average MDCAT score from all provinces and JSMU. Thus, after reviewing the data, the council suggested the board consider fixing the MDCAT passing Percentage for BDS Program at 55%.

Admissions on Vacant Seats in Dental Colleges

The private medical and Sindh Public Colleges requested the council fill the current vacant dental college seats. Thus, the council instructed the authority to provide detailed papers with analysis within a week. However, the council will also discuss the matter with provincial authorities before final decisions.

Decision on Scheduling of Admission Dates

Before the meeting, many colleges suggested the council on fixing the admission schedule in medical and dental colleges. Thus, on 14 May 2022, the council considered the suggested admission schedule proposal sent by the DR Razi, President PAMI (Sindh Chapter). The council approved the necessary changes to the Medical & Dental Undergraduate Education Regulations 2021 to allow for the Final Admission date.

Thus, all admission schedules will be according to the Fundamental principle that is:

“Public Institutes admissions will be before the private admissions, and Medical institutes admissions will be before the Dental Admissions.”

For this purpose, the council has constituted a National Scheduling committee that will submit the admission schedule to the authority.

Withdrawal of Re-Dental Program Sharing of Facilities Policy

The council has announced withdrawing the interim policy on sharing the facilities between Medical and Dental colleges with immediate effect.

Closure of Muhammad Medical College Peshawar

During the meeting, the council approved the closing of the Muhammad Medical College Peshawar upon the recommendation of the Disciplinary Committee. The council closed the college because of the illegal admissions and demanding donations from the students.

Now, PMC instructed the authority to make a placement plan within a week to place the students in other colleges.
