Recently, the Pakistan Medical commission issued a letter to the Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University. The letter is about to lower the MDCAt pass percentage to 50% in Sindh medical and dental colleges. In the issued letter, the PMC provided the reference of Sindh medical and Dental colleges MBBS and BDS admissions advertisement 2021-22. The commission stated that that advertisement indicated to admit the admission having 50% marks in MDCAT.
Thus, PMC mentions that candidates with less than 65% marks are not eligible for admissions. The mentioned admission policy is applicable for all medical and dental colleges in Pakistan without any exception.
PMC mentioned that the Sindh government decision regarding the MBBS and BDS admissions is not according to the PMC. The Sindh decision showed a direct violation of the Supreme court decision and judgement of the highest judicial officer of the country.

Thus, PMC instructed the institutes to make corrections regarding the admission in Sindh immediately. However, in case of further violation, PMC will take strict action.
Grace marks of HSSC for Merit calculation
Along with the MDCAT Marks, PMC also issued a letter regarding the grace marks in HSSC for the MBBS/BDS merit calculation. PMKC stated that some boards in Sindh add the grace marks for the Merit calculation. PMC provided the reference of the Ministry of Education, PMC Council decision taken on 25 June 2021.
According to that decision, during the Merit calculation for MBBS and BDS, colleges will only consider the elective subject’s actual marks. Thus, any provincial authority has no right to include the grace marks of HSSc or equivalent qualification. However, below, we have provided the official letter of PMC for your satisfaction.
