Social Media Platforms Suspended in Pakistan

On 16 April 2021, Friday, the Ministry of Interior, Pakistan, ordered to suspend social media platforms. The Ministry announced this news under notification No. F.7/2/2021-Security-I. In the notice, the Ministry asked to block the following platforms from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday.

  • Telegram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter 
  • Youtube

Thus these are the platforms that have been closed across Pakistan for 4 hours. However, the government requested the PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) to take immediate action on it.

However, a PTA official stated that the government restricted social media to maintain public order and safety. Below is the official notification of the Ministry of the blockage of social media platforms.
